Developed Workshops
Decolonization Work: Toward a Culture of Care
This short, grounded workshop offers an introduction to decolonization that is accessible, relational, and rooted in everyday life. Centered on collective reflection and real-world scenarios, participants are invited to explore what decolonization means beyond metaphor—and how it connects to their work, roles, and responsibilities.
We focus on how to recognize colonial patterns, engage in daily acts of resurgence, and respond to power and harm in community contexts. Through small group discussion and real-life dilemmas, participants leave with clearer language, strategies, and shared accountability.
Together, we'll explore:
- A clearer understanding of what decolonization means in daily life
- Practical strategies for centering decolonization in their work and relationships
- Tools for responding to power and harm in real-world community and organizational contexts
- A deeper awareness of what meaningful allyship looks like—and how to practice it with humility and integrity
This workshop is ideal as a stand-alone learning opportunity or as a starting point for deeper engagement with decolonial practice.
What Does a Good Life Look Like? Supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ Community Members
We created this workshop with BIPOC service providers, frontline workers, and community organizations in mind. It creates space for Indigenous women and women of colour as well as those working in solidarity to build shared understanding and strengthen support for Two Spirit, trans, and queer community members. Through interactive discussion, reflection, and collaborative learning, participants will explore how structural barriers, lateral violence, and societal bias impact 2SLGBTQIA+ people's access to services and quality of life.
Together, we'll explore:
- A deeper understanding of 2SLGBTQIA+ identities from both colonial and decolonial lenses
- Tools to identify and address barriers to care and connection
- Increased confidence in fostering inclusive, accountable spaces
- Practical insights grounded in human rights policy (BCDRIPA, UNDRIP, BC Human Rights Tribunal, etc.)
This is a space rooted in care, complexity, and commitment to collective liberation.
Surviving Systems: Indigenous Resistance in the Face of Colonial Healthcare
We created this workshop with healthcare professionals, educators, and frontline workers in mind. It invites learners to engage with the lived experiences, systemic impacts, and lasting legacies of Canada’s Indian Hospital system. Through survivor testimony, creative reflection, and critical dialogue, participants will deepen their understanding of how colonial medical systems have shaped healthcare in this country—and how Indigenous families have resisted, adapted, and cared for one another despite systemic harm.
Participants will explore historical and present-day barriers to safe and respectful care, reflect on their own roles within healthcare and community systems, and build pathways toward accountability, empathy, and action.
Together, we'll explore:
- A deeper understanding of the purpose and impacts of Indian Hospitals
- Insight into how these institutions continue to shape today’s healthcare system
- Space to reflect on personal and professional responsibility in reconciliation and systemic change
- Tools to recognize Indigenous resistance, advocacy, and wellness within and beyond colonial care systems
This workshop includes facilitated discussions, story-based analysis, and a take-home reflection guide for continued learning.
