Health and Safety Policy
Our Approach
At Oodenaw, the health, safety, and well-being of our members and employees are at the core of our values. Our members are a part of the communities we serve. If we are not well, our work is not well, and our communities are not well. We recognize that our work may delve into emotionally heavy topics, and we are committed to providing a supportive and safe environment for everyone.
Respecting Our Whole Selves
We understand that we are not just workers; we are human beings with emotions and experiences that can impact us both at work and outside. As a cooperative, we actively promote mental health awareness and support. We believe in creating a workplace that encourages open conversations about well-being, without stigma or judgment.
Training and Resources
In the future, as we build capacity, we will provide health and safety training and resources to all members and employees. This includes education on recognizing signs of emotional stress, self-care practices, and access to mental health resources.
Setting Healthy Work Boundaries
To protect the well-being of our members and employees, we encourage everyone to consider and prioritize their maximum capacity for work time per day and week. We value work-life balance and urge everyone to set boundaries that allow for adequate rest and recharge.
The Impact of Screen Time
We understand that extended periods of computer use can impact us physically and mentally. We encourage regular breaks, eye exercises, stretching to reduce strain, as well as maintaining work-life balance and healthy work boundaries to promote overall well-being.
Legal Compliance
We will adhere to all relevant health and safety laws and regulations to protect the well-being of our members and employees.
Recognizing and Addressing Challenges
We understand that emotional burdens may arise from our work and personal lives. We encourage open communication to recognize and address challenges proactively. Our cooperative will provide support and suggest resources to those facing emotional struggles.
As a cooperative, we stand united in supporting each other's health and safety. By fostering an environment of empathy and care, we contribute to the health of not only our colleagues, but our communities as well.
